When President Barack Obama pushed his campaign on immigration legalization at Texas on Tuesday, thousands of Hispanic and alien workers also listened to promises of refurbished immigration proposal in Congress soon.
This recent Obama project seems like more appealing to neighboring countries than to his own nation. As with the huge crowd of La Raza supporters flood Texas streets, so are the increasing number of frustrated Americans who are struggling to regain primacy in the labor industry.
Obama insisted on pursuing the immigration reform law after his health program was successfully signed into law. He reiterated his interest to help 12 million immigrants become a full-pledged American citizen with rights, benefits, and privileges. He aims to grant the petition to resolve unjust deportation and assault on foreign workers in the US.
Sounds heroic to Hispanic, Latino, and Asian workers; but not among American residents who have to compete with immigrants to secure jobs, health care, and federal benefits. To prove, a growing number of Americans sparked contentions on the hazard that it can cause to the already deteriorating US economy.
Critics commented on how immigrants can pull the economy further downhill. They predicted lesser tax returns, higher loan and claim applications, and higher threat on national security.
When foreign workers gain equal rights in US, what can be left to American laborers? It will just be second-class citizenship with mediocre services.
Obama can go a long way on popularity among minority groups and launch impressive political moves with his seemingly humane programs. However, the majority will soon realize that they need a better leader who can restore the American Dream.
